Get a chance to see the 2017 Honda Civic at Geneva Motor Show next month. The new version of Honda Civic is expected to boast improvements in exterior, cabin and engine. Now, here's what is currently known about the next-generation Honda Civic hatchback release date, update and features. 

Carbuyer.co.uk website published that 2017 Honda Civic will be styled with a bit more sporting swagger than its versions. Interestingly, released images of the upcoming car reveal its rear screen is bisected by a spoiler that blends with the tail-lights. Moreover, the hexagonal number plate is highly likely present in the car. Rumors also said the next year's Civic will sport an aggressive front end and prominent Honda badge.

The same source reported that the upcoming Civic will have 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol model pumping 127-horsepower and 1.5-litre four-cylinder version making 201-horsepower. These models will be powered with Honda's VTEC variable valve timing technology.

Furthermore, it is expected that the new 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol will be available in the future, which could replace the current 1.8 version and is set to form the basis of the next Type R.

These brand-new engines will come from Honda's very own "Earth Dreams" fuel-saving technology. The feature boosts the car's performance and improves fuel economy. Honda also stated the new petrol engines will be the most efficient in the company's history. 

As for the interior features of 2017 Civic, AutoExpress predicted the upcoming car will have a large central touchscreen to replace the confusing split-screen arrangement of the previous version. Some car owners complained that the current model has cluttered touchscreen layout. The website also said the next year's Civic will be roomier, particularly in the back.

Road and Track reported that the Five-Door Honda Civic will be available in the United Kingdom and North America---first time for the region.  

Honda said car enthusiasts should expect the next Civic will be "sporty" and "fun to drive". It also confirmed a £200m investment in Honda's Swindon plant, which has been building Civics for more than two decades. Since 2010, the plant has built more than 660,000 cars that include the Civic Tourer estate, Jazz hatchback and CR-V SUV.

The 2017 Honda Civic's European launch is set in early 2017. As of now, there's no official word on pricing as yet, but don't expect it to deviate too much from the current model's price range.
