New Apostolic Invests K170m in Agricultural Project

The New Apostolic Church in Zambia has invested K170 million in the seed multiplication programme.

This is for training seed growers, inputs, monitoring, resultant seed acquisition and other logistical requirements.

Church president in Zambia, Duncan Mfune, said the church would continue contributing to the alleviation of poverty and hunger by supporting agricultural programmes in the country.

Mr Mfune was speaking yesterday at Lima Garden guest house during the launch of Henwood Foundation seed distribution programme to the vulnerable in the rural communities.

He said the seed distribution to the vulnerable was a culmination of the seed multiplication programme embarked upon by Henwood Foundation in 2003/2004 farming season, under the auspices of the new apostolic church.

Mr Mfune said the church established the Henwood Foundation to implement relief and social programmes.

And Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives senior official Richard Kamona has said good seed was a priority towards ensuring food security.

He said providing seed to rural communities would generate income through development of seed entrepreneurship.
