The Patriots have signed cornerback veteran Tarell Brown, confirmed Adam Schefter on his Twitter account, @AdamSchefter. Schefter twitted, "Patriots reached agreement with former Raiders and 49ers CB Tarell Brown, as @diannaESPN reported. NE had been looking to add CB depth.

NBC Sports cited a report by ESPN saying that Brown has attended the Patriot's offseason summer camp as he shops for a new team for the 2015 season. The cornerback is reported to have also attracted the attention of the Ravens but eventually signed up with the Patriots.

The addition of Brown into the Patriot is a big boost to the buildup of team's cornerback group with the departure of Darrelle Revis, Brandon Browner, Kyle Arrington and Alfonzo Dennard. The Patriot is left with Logan Ryan and Malcolm Butler to compete with newcomers Bradley Fletcher, Robert McClain and Brown for playing time in the secondary this season.

Brown struggled with injury in the last National Football League (NFL) season after suffering a broken bone in his foot playing for the Oakland Raiders. Before the injury, Brown started 14 games for the Raiders, posting 55 tackles. He also started for the 49ers for the three previous seasons.

Meanwhile, head coach Bill Belichick and the Patriots are reported to be interested in acquiring future Hall of Fame wide receiver Reggie Wayne. According to a report from Dave Furst of WRTV-6 and the sports director at ABC in Indianapolis, three other teams have signified their intention to sign up Wayne, who is entering his 15th NFL season.

Furst posted on his Twitter account, @DaveFurst, "Here you go-among the teams showing interest in former #Colts WR Reggie Wayne: #Patriots #Ravens #Texans #Packers. Broncos have backed off."

A separate report by HNGN, while everything is still fluid at this time as the four teams are still negotiating with Wayne's representative, the wide receiver will most likely sign with the Patriots and coach Belichick.

It added that while the 36-year-old Wayne does not possess the old form that he once had when he was still a younger player, at least from a physical standpoint, the veteran player can still be relied upon for his grit, savviness, crispiness and intelligent route-running abilities that has marked his 14-year career at the NFL.

"While he has fallen short of his usual prodigious production the past two seasons - just 38 receptions for 503 yards in seven games in 2013 and just 64 receptions for 779 yards in 15 games last year - his dropoff in athleticism has coincided with the development of a plethora of explosive new toys for Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, including TY Hilton, Dwayne Allen, Donte Moncrief and the recent additions of big-bodied veteran Andre Johnson and speedy draft pick Phillip Dorsett. He indicated recently that his ideal situation would be to play at least one more season and then call it a, likely Hall of Fame-worthy, career," the report said.

But MassLive said Wayne will find room in Baltimore to fit his skill and talent. Wayne will be a perfect combination with Steve Smith, Marlon Brown and rookie speedster Breshad Perriman, it added. Perriman is also expected to take over Torrey Smith's role stretching the field.
