The Patriots concluded the 2013 season with an overall record of 12-4 (vs AFC East 4-2, vs AFC: 9-3). They were ranked 10th overall in passing yards (255.4 yards) and 9th overall in rushing yards (129.1 yards). The team leaders were quarter back Tom Brady, who had 4,343 passing yards, running back Stevan Ridley, who had 773 rushing yards, and wide receiver Julian Edelman, who had 1056 yards.

Washington, on the other hand, ended this past season with a poor overall record of 3-13 (vs NFC East: 0-6, vs NFC: 1-11). With Robert Griffin as quarterback, the Redskins ranked 16th overall in passing yards (234.4 yards) and 5th overall in rushing yards (135.3 yards). Griffin put down a total of 3203 yards, running back Alfred Morris had 1,275 rushing yards, and wide receiver Pierce Garcon had 1,346 receiving yards.

During the first week of training camp, the Patriots headed to Richmond, Va., to kick off a week of joint practices with the Redskins ahead of Thursday's preseason game.

NFL Hall of Famer Tom Brady made the most of the opportunity, excelling against the Redskins' secondary in team drills and strengthening his chemistry with his team's wide receivers.

"When you practice against your own defense, you see a lot of the same looks," Brady said, after the practice on Tuesday, according to NESN Sports Today. "What we're seeing here the last couple days is pretty different than what our defense does, so hopefully it serves us well in the long run."

Griffin has reportedly has also learned from Brady during the teams joint practices.

The Patriots vs. Redskins game will begin at 7:30 p.m. ET and televised on NBC. Fans can watch the game online through live stream by clicking here.
