HONG KONG – An influential New York-based Christian dance group will visit Hong Kong this month to perform at the Causeway Bay Times Plaza, turning the hottest spot in the city to a gospel stage, and then heading on to perform at the Olympics in Beijing.

According to their website, Project Dance was founded in 2003 as a hundred percent volunteer-based ministry. Its founder Cheryl Cutlip has the vision to bring the message of hope and healing to every culture in this world through the common language of dance. Its main objective is to host open performances that usually last for three days.

Prior to their performances, Project Dance will provide professional dance trainings and techniques accroding to the levels of interested performers, and then perform at schools, theatres, and city hotspots. They hope that every dancer who has received training can fully reveal their potential and also through their testimonies change this world.

Each year, the dance team would perform outdoor at Times Square in New York City, attracting tens of thousands of curious viewers. In recent years, Project Dance has brought their outdoor performances beyond New York City and into different parts of the world.

Thus far, more than 800 people have received training each year, using more than 70 volunteer dance instructors. In July of this year, Project Dance will visit Sydney and Hong Kong, 18-20th and 25-27th respectively, to hold open performances.

In a recent report by San Francisco Bay Area Channel 9 news, Beijing city government has seen the promotional video of Project Dance and they received a deep impression, so they have invited Project Dance dancers to perform at the Beijing Olympics. After their performance in Hong Kong, Project Dance will head to Beijing to perform at the Olympics.

The open performances of Project Dance in Hong Kong has received the full support of D.O.G-Power and YMCA and it has been set to be held from 1pm to 6pm on July 26th at Causeway Bay Times Plaza. All are welcome to come and watch for free.
