The Lions will travel to New York this week to take on the Jets.  The Lions are off to a 2-1 start, and are taking a well rounded team to East Rutherford's MetLife Stadium on Sunday at 1 PM EST.  Meanwhile, the Jets are 1-2 and really need to get it together offensively if they are going to do anything this year.  You can watch the Game on FOX or via live stream online from one of the links below (free with subscriptions).  

For the Jets, the main place they need to improve is on offense, specifically on red zone offense.   Geno Smith is better than he was last year, but he is not bringing a positive dynamic to the offense.  So far he has thrown 4 interceptions and only 3 touchdowns.  He has also fumbled two times, so he has to limit the turnovers and make some plays if they are going to put points on the board.  Eric Decker has been hurt a lot so far, so that hasn't helped, but the Jets are hoping he is back this week.  

On Defense, the Jets are a run stopper.  Unfortunately for the Jets though, the Lions are bringing Calvin Johnson, Golden Tate and crew, and they will light up opposing defenses by airing it out. Johnson has over 300 yards through the air already this year, and has 2 touchdowns to go with them.  Golden Tate has over 200 yards receiving, and he has added a threat that has made the Detroit air attack much more threatening.   Both of them could go for 100+ this week, and if that happens Detroit could easily win.  

Detroit's Defense is hardcore, too.  They are only allowing on average 180 passing yards per contest, and a measly 63 yards rushing.  Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley have both had success putting pressure on quarterbacks this year, and Ezekiel Ansah has provided constant pressure from the defensive end position. The secondary has added pressure and provided coverage, so as a unit the whole defense is very threatening.  If they can get to Smith a lot in the first half, we may see Michael Vick come in for the Jets.  

The Lions did lose middle linebacker Stephen Tulloch last week to a knee injury suffered during a sack celebration, so we will see how the unit reacts and adjust to his loss.   He already had two sacks, so he is going to be tough to replace.
