NFL News & Rumors: Cleveland Browns Reject Denver Broncos Deal; Pro Bowler Joe Thomas' Future On Hold

The Cleveland Browns have been actively seeking ways to bolster its roster. One of the most highly anticipated trades in the NFL this season was the supposed departure of Pro Bowl star Joe Thomas from the Cleveland Browns locker room and his subsequent entry to the Denver Broncos roster.

According to sources, the Denver Broncos were prepared to spare no expense to achieve the trade. With basically all details in place, the trade eventually fell apart when the Denver Broncos reportedly failed to provide an enticing offer to convince the Cleveland Browns to part with Joe Thomas - a development that apparently pleased the Pro Bowl athlete.

"I'm not a quitter,'' shared Joe Thomas in a press conference, referring to his desire to stay with the Cleveland Browns, according to ABC News. The Pro Bowl star went on to say, "I'm not a guy that gives up on my goals, and my goal from day one was to be part of the turnaround here and that hasn't changed. The reality of it is we're right now a 2-6 team and the trade deadline is coming up. If you're a team that doesn't have a winning record I imagine it happens all the time where teams will call up your team and find out if you're available for a trade. It's happened in the past with me in my career. But it's out of my control. I want to be here. I want to finish my career here.'' Reports revealed that the Denver Broncos refused to give up two rounds worth of draft position to the Cleveland Browns, thereby effectively putting an end to the trade talks.

For their part, the Denver Broncos feel that there are other means to boost their roster.

"I think that we're always trying to get better,'' stated Denver Broncos executive vice president of football operations/general manager John Elway Elway. He added, "If we have any opportunities to get better and we think that the compensation is fair, then we're going to do everything that we can to do that. I think that we're not going to mortgage the future to do it, but if we can add to our football team now and feel like it makes us better, we're going to look at all opportunities like that. I know that everyone looks at it as we're trying to win it now and we're all in for now.''

Hence, the Cleveland Browns are set to face off against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football (November 5) with the Pro Bowler in tow. Scheduled at 8:25 pm ET, the Cleveland Browns will attempt to turn their luck around against the Cincinnati Bengals in the NFL match to be held at the Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio.
