The Jacksonville Jaguars are preparing to make their Super Bowl push a more tangible goal next NFL season. With the impending free agency season of Blake Bortles, the Jalen Ramsey team is said to be planning to release him and sign a more talented quarterback instead. Among the potential stars in the market, a Colin Kaepernick contract seems to be the most attractive deal for the NFL team.

The San Francisco 49ers and Colin Kaepernick had a tumultuous NFL season starting from their contract standoff to the controversial political stance of the quarterback. With the decision of the Carlos Hyde to simply let go of the star, Kap now finds himself still unemployed in the league. However, this might change soon as the Jacksonville Jaguars are anticipated to draft him a good offer soon.

Rumors are rife that the Jacksonville Jaguars plan to release Blake Bortles this offseason, according to CBS Sports. Despite the consistent performance of the young quarterback, the Jalen Ramsey team seems more than impressed with the stats and leadership of Chad Henne. However, the age and health concerns linked to the older leader necessitated the acquisition of a stronger and more efficient backup. With this in mind, fans are speculating that the answer would be a Colin Kaepernick contract.

“Obviously he’s going to be in a backup role at this point. But you see quarterbacks, there was a year Matt Schaub had a pretty rough year and got signed the next year. So it has nothing to do with football. You can see that. They signed guys who have had off years before,” noted Richard Sherman of the Seattle Seahawks regarding the Colin Kaepernick contract dilemma.

He added, “You don’t have 32 starting-level quarterbacks in this league. You have about eight elites, and then you have the rest of the league. You have about eight, nine elite quarterbacks. You have two or three who have the potential to be elite. And then you have the rest of the teams.”

At this point, no official comment has been released by any of the parties tagged in the NFL rumor. However, some fans of the Jacksonville Jaguars are wary over the possibility of a Colin Kaepernick contract. Meanwhile, others believe that this could be a good boost especially for Chad Henne’s health and performance.
