The Dallas Cowboys are in the process of picking up the pieces from what is left of their core team. With an injured Tony Romo and a struggling Dez Bryant to the painful exit of DeMarco Murray, the once formidable NFL team has become a joke in the past season. To worsen their situation, the Dallas Cowboys even saw themselves dealing with the problematic Greg Hardy.

The decision of Jerry Jones to sign Hardy into the NFL team has been widely criticized by the public and the football community. The difficult defensive end, albeit highly talented, has been the subject of media scrutiny following his abrupt departure from the Carolina Panthers.

Almost immediately following his release from the Carolina Panthers, the Dallas Cowboys offered Hardy a one-year deal. Given his troubled past, fans of the Romo squad believed that the football team expected the defensive end to perform beyond the expectations. Moreover, every member of the Dallas Cowboys roster expressed their confidence in the capacity of Hardy to turn his life around. However, virtually none of the expectations were met. At the moment, the Dallas Cowboys are keeping mum on their decision to re-sign Hardy.

"He is a free agent last I checked," said Jones of Hardy when the former was asked if the defensive end will be returning to the Dallas Cowboys lineup soon. The NFL team owner further commented, "We expected to have more production. Our eyes were wide open what the off the field was."

Despite the comments of Jones, it looks like team Hardy is not yet losing hope. The defensive end's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, refused to directly tackle the issue. Instead, the agent insisted on the privacy to be afforded to the Dallas Cowboys as they deliberate the future of Hardy.

"I have approached the team about Greg after the season, but I'm not going to divulge their business,'' he said. Rosenhaus added, "Jerry (Jones) said there hasn't been discussion, so I'm not really saying anything about it.''

Meanwhile, Jason Cole of Bleacher Report shared that other NFL teams are interested in Hardy. Although these squads are choosing to make their moves quietly, some speculate that the list includes the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers.

"According to two sources close to Greg Hardy, several teams are currently interested in signing the talented defensive end," Cole revealed. He added, "However those teams wish to remain under the radar in hopes of avoiding the attention that would come with pursuing Hardy, given his litany of off-field issues."

If rumors are to be believed, the Cam Newton squad members and staff initially objected to the dismissal of Hardy. However, Jerry Richardson insisted on the move. According to the Carolina Panthers team owner, the talent of the football star is not enough reason for the football squad to keep him. Given this background, it comes as no surprise if the Carolina Panthers take an about face and re-hire Hardy for the next season.

For his part, Hardy appears to be actively seeking teams to play for next season. Rosenhaus said, "There has been interest in Hardy. He is back in school in Mississippi. He is one of the players I'm talking to teams about and trying to get a good fit for him."
