Following days filled with speculation on Tony Romo's return, it seems the Dallas Cowboys quarterback will still not be able to join the team for the Week 10 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. If Romo fails to make a comeback soon, the Cowboys could eventually waive him since they have now found a new starter in Dak Prescott.

Romo has been absent all season after suffering a back injury during the Cowboys' preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks in August. Since then, the Dallas franchise has been relying on Prescott to lead the team.

Fortunately for the Cowboys, Prescott is a talented quarterback who has been helping the team achieve consecutive wins.

Earlier this week, team owner Jerry Jones talked about the Cowboys' quarterback situation and noted that he has not yet ruled out Romo from the team.
"We've got a great luxury and wonderful problem to have," he said. "We've got some real talent at our quarterback position. I think Tony Romo is one of the best quarterbacks that has played this game."

"My real regret would be to have had him here and not win a Super Bowl with him," Jones added. "He's that talented. And then I look at Dak and how he's playing, his future... I just don't have a problem with this situation."

Although there have already been talks about Romo's return, it seems this will not happen on Sunday after it was reported that he's still inactive. However, if his absence extends to more weeks, Romo could be the next player to get waived from the team.

Even without Romo, the Cowboys have a pretty solid quarterback bench with Prescott as a starter and veteran Mark Sanchez as his backup. Given the way Prescott has been playing during the past weeks, the Cowboys would probably not start with Romo even if he has returned.

Also, now that the Cowboys are emerging as a strong Super Bowl contender, the Dallas front office would probably not make a drastic roster change by re-appointing Romo as the team's main passer. Instead, they will most likely still stick with Prescott for the entire year.
