The Dallas Cowboys have been struggling to make it to the top this NFL season. Ever since Tony Romo got his collarbone injured in Week 2 of the football regular season, the Dez Bryant squad had been the object of ridicule in the league. In fact, some sports analysts are even calling out Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones for the coaching staff decisions and roster calls made this year. Despite their abysmal performance, however, the Dallas Cowboys still have a shot at landing the top spot in the NFC East.

"I'm going to go back to that old saying, 'it's an ugly baby, but it's my baby,'" said Jones on the Shan and RJ Show on KRLD-FM 105.3 The Fan via the Sports Day. "Here we go, step-by-step." 

Jones further shared, "The bottom line is 'why not?' If we can go up to (Green Bay), our defense can put together a game like that, get more confidence in our offense, then here we go. Why not?" If the Dallas Cowboys lose to the Green Bay Packers on December 14 though, the playoff dreams of the Greg Hardy squad will be out the window.

Jones, in a separate interview via USA Today, shared that the current status of the Dallas Cowboys is something he "never dreamed" of experiencing. However, the NFL team owner remains optimistic about the capacity of the football team to rally behind their Super Bowl aspirations. 

"You can say it speaks to parity, and I guess it does. We are fortunate. We've got to get better, though. We play these guys again. We've got some tough road games ahead of us. We've got a lot of work to do if we still want to keep our head up," he said. 

Meanwhile, talks are rife with the possibility of Matt Cassel bagging an increased salary next season. With starting quarterback Romo out of the action, the backup star has landed the leading role in the Dallas Cowboys roster. While the game against the Washington Redskins had been widely criticized, the matchup proved Cassel's ability to lead the Bryant squad to more victories. Although the increase in his pay is yet to be confirmed, what the Dallas Cowboys' quarterback can guarantee is an improved performance in the next games.

"There's definitely more of a comfort level, I think," Cassel shared, according to SB Nation. He added, "Each week I've felt more and more comfortable. But then you also get to step back. You can go back and critique yourself over the last few weeks, and at the same time, get ready to go and step in. But my comfort level from my first start to where I am now is night and day."

Apart from Cassel, another quarterback making headlines is Tim Tebow. The Christian NFL hopeful initially worked out for the Philadelphia Eagles. Throughout the offseason, fans and followers of Tebow felt that he had the role third quarterback in the bag. However, Chip Kelly eventually decided to let him go. Given Romo's current situation and the growing dismay in Cassel's performance among the football community, the Dallas Cowboys might consider signing Tebow. Sports analysts believe that this will be a good move as the Hardy squad could sign Tebow for the minimum contract for veterans.
