The Philadelphia Eagles saw a drama filled 2016-17 NFL season with the sudden departure of Sam Bradford following the promising Carson Wentz contract signed in the draft. While the rookie quarterback had an impressive first year in the league, his efforts fell short compared to the accomplishments of Dallas Cowboys star Dak Prescott. The results are said to have prompted the front office to look into a Kirk Cousins trade to provide Carson Wentz with a veteran presence in the post.

The Washington Redskins are tangled in a contract issue with Kirk Cousins as the veteran quarterback refuses to compromise. At this point, a number of quarterbacks are recommended for the NFL team but it seems that they insist on a Kirk Cousins contract for at least one season. However, speculations point to the possibility of the veteran to walk away from the football squad if a more lucrative and promising offer presents itself.

Rumors are rife that the Philadelphia Eagles could be targeting a Kirk Cousins trade to give Carson Wentz enough time and space to work on his skills. As per the comments of Donovan McNabb himself, the rookie quarterback would require patience and a bit of hand-holding from the fans and the coaching staff before he reaches his full potential. These comments reportedly fueled the speculations that the Philadelphia Eagles could be looking for a temporary fix to their quarterback problem - one that could also give Carson Wentz the much needed reprieve from the starting role.

"You have to be patient with these young guys," shared McNabb. "Carson at this point needs to just be Carson. The fans need to allow him to be himself. He will go through some ups and downs. It's growing pains for him and the guys around him."

The former Philadelphia Eagles star added, "Next year there are going to present some different things to Carson Wentz. He will struggle at times, but he will have some great games as well. You know it is going to be a process. You have Doug Pederson coming in with his first opportunity as a head coach. You got a quarterback that you drafted high and traded picks for. It's going to be a development process. "

However, no official comment has been provided by any of the parties tagged in a potential Kirk Cousins trade to the Philadelphia Eagles. What do you think? Should the Washington Redskins just let go of the fight involving the Kirk Cousins contract and surrender him to the Carson Wentz team?
