NFL Rumors: QB Sam Bradford Returns for Regular Season, Extension Contract With Philadelphia Eagles Suspended

The NFL's much awaited 2015 season is almost here and fans of the Philadelphia Eagles may notice that the team will feature a significantly different roster compared to 2014.

This offseason, one of the Eagles' biggest moves is to trade their quarterback Nick Foles for another quarterback from the St. Louis Rams, Sam Bradford. The latter was the first overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.

However, his career has been repeatedly disrupted by injuries. In his five seasons with the league, the 27-year-old quarterback has only been able to fully participate in 16 games within two of those seasons. The last time fans saw him was during the 2013 season.

Understandably, Bradford does not know exactly how long it has been since he played in a regular season. "It's been I think one-year and seven months? One year and nine-months? I don't even know how long it's been," Bradford told NJ.com on Wednesday following practice.

The newly minted Eagles player was close as it has been about one year and 10 months since he last joined a regular season. After injuring his ACL (a ligament in the knee) in the 2013 season, he once again sustained another torn ACL in the subsequent season. Bradford admitted that those injuries had made him question if he still wanted to play.

Nevertheless, his long wait will be over as the Philadelphia Eagles will be facing the Atlanta Falcons this season opener on Monday. They have put their faith on Bradford as he will be the team's starting quarterback for the said game.

Now, a new report suggests that the Eagles have halted talks about Sam Bradford's contract extension. According to Ed Werder, an ESPN NFL Insider, the team has backed off from negotiating for a short-term extension with Bradford due to the latter's recent impressive preseason performance. The former first-overall pick managed to deliver a 10-for-10, 121-yard, three touchdown win against the Green Bay Packers.

That success supposedly "changed dynamics" between the quarterback and the team. Werder previously reported that the Philadelphia Eagles were attempting to negotiate a deal that will keep Bradford from leaving beyond 2015 but the deal is reportedly lower than the player's $12.9 million cap hit.

Bradford, a former NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year awardee, has thrown for 59 touchdowns and 38 interceptions throughout his career. That includes a career-high of 21 touchdowns back in 2012. He has a QB rating of 79.3 and a completion percentage of 58.6.
