The Tony Romo retirement announcement had pushed a lot of free agents forward since the frontrunner is no longer available for trade. One of the most viable options right now is a Jimmy Garoppolo trade with the New England Patriots as Tom Brady earlier announced his desire to play longer. With a minimal possibility of playing as the starting quarterback as long as the said veteran is on the roster, the younger star is anticipated to move soon.

One of the most widely disappointing teams in the NFL is the San Francisco 49ers. With both Blaine Gabbert and Colin Kaepernick failing to live up to expectations, the Chip Kelly team performed poorly in the previous football season. However, it looks like the Carlos Hyde team has a plan to turn things around this offseason.

Rumors are rife that the New England Patriots are open to entertaining offers for a Jimmy Garoppolo trade this offseason. Among the interested NFL teams are the Cleveland Browns, Chicago Bears and New York Jets. However, the San Francisco 49ers are anticipated to have the most legitimate shot at the backup quarterback. How will a Jimmy Garoppolo trade figure in the Chip Kelly system?

"I'd say to answer your question, anything that we do we're always going to do what we think is in the best interest of our football team and that's how we approach it," shared Nick Caserio when asked of the Jimmy Garoppolo trade rumors. Caserio is the vice president of player personnel for the New England Patriots.

He added, "That's not going to change. So whatever we think is best for our team for 2017, for that season, then that's what we'll do. However that manifests itself [I'm] not exactly sure, but that's where the focus is, trying to put together the best team possible for the 2017 season. However that comes about then we'll take it as it comes."

Even without Tom Brady in the picture, the New England Patriots appeared to have anticipated a Jimmy Garoppolo trade. Experts indicate that the move to draft Jacoby Brissett showed that the front office had a feeling about the potential move of the quarterback soon. Will he be signing with the San Francisco 49ers then?

At this point, no official comment has been given by the parties tagged in this NFL trade rumor. However, many fans feel that it might just be about time for a Jimmy Garoppolo trade to happen especially in light of the flourishing performance of Tom Brady on the gridiron.
