The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ lost of backup quarterback Mike Glennon to the Chicago Bears now puts their depth chart in this role in a bit of jeopardy. While Jameis Winston remains a strong leader for the team, the fifth-year veteran’s presence in the team provided them with stability and confidence in the gridiron in the past season. However, it appears that the issue might have been answered quickly as a Tony Romo trade to the Mike Evans team might happen sooner than expected.

The Dallas Cowboys and Tony Romo are widely anticipated to head towards a divorce soon especially in light of the rise of Dak Prescott as the team’s leader. While the veteran quarterback admitted that his tenure as the starter in his team has come to an end, he also insisted that he still plans to play in the NFL in the next years to come. Since he remains a valuable player despite his injuries, several football squads across the league have expressed interest in signing a Tony Romo contract this offseason.

"Line 1 with every decision we make is what's in the best interest of the Dallas Cowboys," explained Jason Garrett of the Tony Romo contract situation. "So that has to be our guidepost in handling any situation with players, with coaches, in anything we do. Having said that, obviously we want to work through this situation the right way in regards to Tony, but we like to do that with any player we have."

Rumors are rife that the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans are seriously pursuing a potential Tony Romo contract this year. However, speculations point to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as possible contenders as well. This comes after the release of their veteran star, Mike Glennon. Without the older quarterback, fans believe that the Mike Evans team would be in dire need of a strong veteran presence in the locker room. With this in mind, a Tony Romo contract to mentor the young Jameis Winston is anticipated.

Meanwhile, many see the similarities between Tony Romo and Jameis Winston. Both are determined and fiercely competitive. The two are also offering promising potential. While it remains to be seen if the NFL rumors tagging a Tony Romo contract to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would come into fruition, it appears that fans of the NFL team are already eager to welcome him there.
