Japan-based and founded Nintendo, one of the world's largest video game companies, announces that specific details on Nintendo Switch will be released on January 12, 2017 in North America, and January 13 in Japan. The variation in announcement dates is due to time differences. However, its worldwide release has already been set and will be on March 2017.

Nintendo Switch, also known as NX, is a hybrid video game console that will feature a tablet and two detachable controllers, reminiscing the good old days of gaming joysticks. Nintendo Switch's first prototype was revealed last October.

On the prototype launch, an overview of Nintendo Switch was also given and it is said to feature the following: a docking station where the tablet can be used with the console or on its own, detachable controllers with joysticks, and the use of flash ROM cartridges instead of optimal discs. This means, game data is secured and automatically saved to the console.

Although no official price releases were made just yet, some analysts believe that a Nintendo Switch would cost around $380. Although many gaming consoles are priced between $255 to $280, Nintendo Switch, with its unique innovation, is expected to cost more.

A recent update on the games list has also got everyone excited, with Nintendo Switch's announced team-up with THQ Nordic, the gaming company behind Sphinx, the Cursed Mummy, War Leaders: Clash of Nations, and Legends of War. THQ Nordic is currently working on Sphinx, the Cursed Mummy, and War Leaders for their release on Nintendo Switch.

"We got a lot of messages from fans that encouraged us to add them (Sphinx, Cursed Mummy and War Leaders). Among these titles, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy are very well-suited for the Nintendo audience which we love to support," says Lars Wingefors of THQ Nordic.

Wingefors adds, "We are excited for Nintendo Switch... and already have two other projects in development for it."

Along with THQ Nordic, gaming development company ConcernedApe is also set to release its Stardew Valley role-playing game with Nintendo Switch. The game was supposed to be released on Nintendo's Wii u console, but release was delayed to accommodate Nintendo Switch.

"I am really looking forward to the Switch, and I believe that the Switch's unique capabilities could create some exciting opportunities for Stardew Valley," a representative of the game says.

As of now, further details on Nintendo Switch's versions of the Sphinx, Cursed Mummy, War Leaders, Legends of War, and Stardew Valley haven't been officially released just yet. Fans may need to wait until January 2017 for the full games list and specific game details.
