No Man's Sky will receive full support from Sony for integration with PlayStation consoles ahead of the coming release date. This information was confirmed during an MCV interview with PlayStation UK's Managing Director Fergal Gara.

"We have been working very closely with the [No Man's Sky] developers and bringing it into our release program as if we had made it. We are not going to treat it any differently and we are going to put the full weight of PlayStation behind it," Gara explained.  

"If it all comes together as well as expected, it will be treated like a first-party release. It is not self-published small indie title on the platform."

Even though No Man's Sky creators have revealed little since E3 2014, The New Yorker's Raffi Khatchadourian has gotten a glimpse of the game. The journalist has likened the game to "visual poetry" even though it still has the occasional bugs and glitches. For now, No Man's Sky is still under development.

The upcoming openworld adventure title is expected to be available on PS4 later this year. However, the release date remains a mystery one year after it was hailed as the Best Independent Game by game critics at E3 2014.

So far, gameplay trailers review simulated planets that have their own unique habitats and organisms. Players run around on foot, or hop into a spacecraft to visit other worlds within a vast galaxy. Based on what has been revealed, the game's world is expansive. The game also contains advanced algorithms that randomize each planet visually.

Recently, iDigitalTimes' Apolon boldly declared No Man's Sky a potential "Minecraft Killer." However, the writer was quick to emphasize that Minecraft is still going to coexist alongside No Man's Sky. Apolon also said the game will have a long-lasting community on the same scale of Minecraft.

It remains to be seen how the game actually performs, even though No Man's Sky has received generally warm responses from critics and players alike. Though the game is expected to launch later this year, No Man's Sky developers at Hello Games have yet to finalize a release schedule.

There is a possibility that more details will be revealed at E3 2015 this coming June 14-16. Companies such as Nintendo, Ubisoft, EA and Sony are expected to be giving special presentations. Until then, players will need to wait patiently for more updates from either Hello Games or Sony.
