President Donald J. Trump has signed an executive order aimed at eliminating anti-Christian bias within the federal government. The order establishes a Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias, which will review government policies, investigate claims of religious discrimination, and take action to protect Christian communities.

The president cited concerns that government agencies unfairly targeted Christians under the previous administration while failing to protect churches and faith-based organizations from rising violence and vandalism. “No American should be punished for their faith, and my administration will ensure that Christians are treated fairly under the law,” Trump stated.

Addressing Allegations of Discrimination

The executive order highlights cases where Christian activists were prosecuted for protesting outside abortion clinics. Trump’s administration argues that these cases represented politically motivated attacks on religious individuals, pointing to instances where elderly demonstrators and clergy members were sentenced to prison. Last month, Trump pardoned those convicted, calling their prosecution unjust.

At the same time, Trump’s order criticizes the lack of enforcement against attacks on Christian churches and pro-life organizations. Reports show that over 100 incidents of vandalism, arson, and violence targeted religious sites in recent years, yet few perpetrators were prosecuted.

Another key concern is a 2023 FBI memo that labeled some conservative Catholic groups as potential domestic terrorism threats. While the memo was later retracted, critics say it revealed a deeper bias against Christian organizations.

A New Task Force to Investigate

The newly formed Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias will be led by the Attorney General and include top officials from agencies such as the FBI, Department of Justice, Department of Education, and Department of Health and Human Services. Their responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing past policies to identify cases of anti-Christian bias.
  • Investigating attacks on churches and faith-based organizations.
  • Ensuring federal agencies do not discriminate against religious groups.

Support and Criticism

The executive order has received strong support from Republican lawmakers and religious leaders, who argue that Christian rights have been ignored for too long.

However, civil rights groups and Democratic leaders have pushed back, warning that the order could politicize religious protections.

Moving Forward

The task force is set to begin work immediately, with an initial report expected within four months. Trump has vowed that his administration will continue defending religious liberty and ensuring that Christians receive equal protection under the law.
