The "China Resource Pack" is gaining ground as the Overseas Missionary Fellowship (OMF) International spreads the word to Christians that resources are available on serving China.

OMF Director of U.S. mobilization Mark Bradley said that their key targets are first churches who either know about the vision of OMF or have a strong interest in doing missions in China.

Next it would be mission-based organizations who have the same goals as OMF or whom have worked in China, Christian schools and seminaries for their mission departments, or individual groups who desire to know more.

Some organizations have already responded to the resources and told OMF that they plan to use them for short-term missions.

Meanwhile, Bradley added that OMF will continue to market the resources and "get it into the hands of those who are interested."

"We felt like China is an important country," and "what God is doing in China is both encouraging and amazing," Bradley said.

The problem, he added, is that there is a lot of information on China, citing volumes of anecdotal and scholarly works, which would make it difficult for those who want to learn about China.

The project came into fruition when OMF wanted to know more about China for mobilization. Afterwards they decided to take it one step further by providing the Resource Pack to "churches, emerging generations, and those who do not have any background information on China."

Beyond the hope of providing the resources on China, OMF also wanted to clear the misconceptions that American churches may have in regards to Christianity in China.

"In the American churches, they hear the work of God, but they don't know everything," and they may end up having "some misconceptions."

For example, "there are still about 1.2 billion people who may not know Christ," and since "there is a growing perception that God is doing a great work in China," their mindset is that "there is nothing left for them to do."

However, through the resources we have collected, "we want to address these misconceptions," he said.

The Resource Pack contains a 140-page book, an interactive website www.chinasmillions.org, videos, and a 30-day prayer guide, in order to provide an in-depth picture of China in terms of its history, religion, people, culture and issues.

OMF International, formerly known as the China Inland Mission, was founded in 1865 by the British missionary James Hudson Taylor. In the 1930s, CIM had more than 1,300 missionaries working in China. Today OMF focuses on East Asia's two billion people.
