Dr. David Curry was recently named President and CEO of Open Doors USA, an international ministry that supports the persecuted church in countries throughout the world.

Open Doors has raised awareness and served as an advocate for believers in countries that are hostile to Christianity for 58 years. They supply Bibles and Christian literature, train Christian leaders, and do Christian community development projects such as church restoration, prison ministry, and medical assistance in these areas. The organization also promotes awareness and encourages prayer for persecuted Christians around the world.

Dr. David Curry has a passion for the persecuted church, and was recently hired as the Open Doors president and CEO. Curry is an author and speaker with a heart to serve the suffering. He feels burdened for the persecution that many endure from corrupt governments around the world, and says he is honored to “serve alongside those who stand for their faith against great opposition.” The organization recognized Curry for his spiritual maturity and gifted leadership abilities.

Open Doors USA seeks to help those in “the world's most oppressive countries, strengthening Christians to stand strong in the face of persecution and equipping them to shine Christ's light in these dark places.” According to an Open Doors statistic, Christianity is the most widely persecuted faith in the world, with believers facing persecution in over 60 countries. “An average of 100 Christians around the world are killed each month for their faith,” their website reads.

Curry says he believes that Christian persecution will increase in the future, as Christ foretold. “You will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of Me,” Jesus said, referring to the church (English Standard Version, Matthew 24:9b). The Lord continued, “Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:12-14). Maranatha – Come, Lord Jesus!
