Leonardo diCaprio finally won his first Oscars. After six nominations for the category, he took home the Best Actor award. While many were also rooting for Eddie Redmayne, nobody can say DiCaprio did not deserve the award either. 

He used his time onstage delivering his acceptance speech as an opportunity to highlight the importance of paying attention to climate change. "Climate change is real. It is happening right now. It is the most urgent threat affecting our entire species." He urged, "We need to support leaders around the world... who speak for all of humanity," and not those focused on greed. "I thank you all for this amazing award tonight. Let us not take this planet for granted. I do not take this award for granted," DiCaprio said, with the crowd erupting in applause. 

DiCaprio is also United Nations Messenger of Peace. The United Nations personally sent the actor its congratulations, urging people to join the actor in his efforts to raise climate change awareness and reverse the trend. 

It's not only DiCaprio who went home elated. "Mad Max: Fury Road" took home several awards as well. The film incredibly received a total of six awards. It won for Best Costume Design, Production Design, Makeup and Hairstyling, Editing, Sound Editing and Sound Mixing. Below is the complete list of Oscars 2016 winners:
