Overflow (Essential Records) plans for its debut release A Better Place while getting ready for several performance acts at largest summer music festivals and some comprehensive radio and retail campaigns.
The debut is produced by Scotty Wilbanks (Third Day, NewSong). The project’s first single, "Come Home," is releasing to Christian AC, CHR and Rock formats this month.
Growing up in small-town Pendleton, South Carolina, the band was assembled out of their church youth group and toured independently for over three years. Since then, Overflow demonstrated a strong desire to minister to churches and youth, and primarily toured events comprising of youth groups, camps and conferences.
At retail, the band will be featured in Provident Distribution's Fall phase one promotion, Pulse, from Aug. 24 to Nov. 1. Catalog advertising has been secured with all major Christian retail chains and various regional stores.
Having already performed and made introductions for major retailers around the country at Atlanta’s 2004 CBA International Convention on Tuesday, June 29, Overflow is also scheduled for appearances at the multi-city Summer Jam 2004 and ShoutFest '04 line-ups. The band made their 30-city tour with ShoutFest ‘03, winning the hearts of many ShoutFest concert-goers.
Mac Powell of Third Day, who produced the band’s debut as an executive, has called Overflow "a young Third Day."
"Their songs really drew me in," Powell says. "For guys as young as they are to have such great songs and a great sound at this time in their career, there's some incredible potential here."
