Taking the film beyond the impact it will serve for Christianity, Mel Gibson will screen his movie, “The Passion of the Christ,” to 3,000 pastors at a conference in Orlando, FL, on January 21, 2004. The pastors are from 80 denominations and 40 countries.

The film has been screened by many Christian figures including Pope John Paul II who concisely commented on the movie by saying, “It is as it was.” Evangelist Billy Graham was moved to tears after watching the movie. Dr. Bill Bright of Campus Crusade of Christ and co-founder of Global Pastors Network, also gave his approval of the film before his death.

"Mel Gibson captures with explosive poignancy the final excruciating hours of Jesus' life," Bright wrote in a letter last July. "Although it was humanity's worst hour, it was God's finest as He demonstrated His tremendous love for us when we all least deserved it. This movie will forever change your view of God Himself, and what He did for us all on that dark day in history as He endured an ignominious trial and hung on the cross.

Gibson, who practices Traditional Catholicism, which involves Latin Tridentine masses, will also “share his faith journey” to all the pastors there.

Much talk has been stirred about Gibson’s movie becoming the new “Jesus” film, a project based on Dr. Bill Bright’s efforts, which is now translated in over 850 languages.

Look for the film release date on February 25, 2004.
