'PASSION' Release on Video&DVD in CBA Market Through Zondervan

The Passion of The Christ will release on DVD and video Aug. 31 through Zondervan to Christian retail.

Zondervan was granted the rights of the movie that focuses on the final 12 hours of the life of Jesus Christ by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment (TCFHE) and Icon Productions.

As part of its distribution plan, Zondervan will offer special point-of-purchase displays and marketing materials to the Christian market. All other North American retail distribution will be handled by TCFHE.

The DVD will retail for $29.98; video is $24.98. Information on special CBA-industry features or packaging was not yet available at press time.

The film released to theaters on Feb. 25 and has pulled in $368 million so far at the U.S. box office, and an additional $222.6 million overseas. Fifteen weeks after its release, the film was at No. 7 on the "All Time Box Office" domestic chart and No. 22 all-time worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo.
