Sony marks 20th anniversary by offering up to 70% discount for over 100 games.  PlayStation Blog

The original PlayStation console launched in the United States two decades ago on September 9, 1995. To celebrate the occasion, Sony is currently holding its "PlayStation 20th Anniversary Sale."

The company already announced a special limited edition PlayStation console, controller, and other special accessories previously to mark its arrival to the video gaming scene. Now, the Japanese firm continues its 20th anniversary campaign by announcing big discounts for over 100 games.

Sony is offering up to 70% discount on some of the titles. Moreover, PlayStation Plus members can also enjoy an additional 10% discount, driving it up to 80% off some of the games included within the sale.

The promo is in effect until September 14. It is worth noting that there not many discounted titles available for the current-generation PlayStation 4. Most of the games in the sale are for the PlayStation 3, which is not entirely surprising given that Sony is attempting to retain its player base (and revenue stream) with its older generation platforms.

The company also slashed prices off some of the games for its handheld consoles such as the PlayStation Portable and PS Vita. Thankfully, interested players can sort the games by supported console, title, ESRB rating, genre, release date and price by checking them out on the official PlayStation Store.

There are several classic and popular M-rated games such as Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Ultimate Evil Edition, Dragon Age: Origins, BioShock, Dragon Age: Origins, Persona 4 Golden (for PlayStation Vita only), a handful of titles from the Call of Duty franchise, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time as well as the original Prince of Persia, Resident Evil 4, Far Cry 3, Saints Row IV, and many more.

Players eyeing to get some savings off their PlayStation 4 games purchase can check out Sony's M-rated offerings such as the PS4 versions of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Digital Pro Edition, Call Of Duty: Ghosts Digital Hardened Edition, Rocksmith 2014 Edition, Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin, Resident Evil Revelations 2 Episode 1, Knack, and Metro: Last Light Redux, among others.

Chieh Chen, Digital Distribution Manager at Sony Network Entertainment, published the full details of all the games included in the 20th anniversary promotion. As mentioned, the sale will end on September 14 and is only available to buyers in North America.
