Sony Computer Entertainment is known for its high-quality games and gaming consoles. Now, the company wants to dominate the VR Market. Come October, Sony's PlayStation VR will hit the shops for price of $399, which is more budget friendly than the Oculus and the Vive.

Here's what is currently known about PlayStation VR Games, specs, release date and update.

The virtual-reality (VR) headset from Sony is expected to compete with other devices from companies like Oculus and HTC. Compare to other VR headsets, Sony Playstation VR do not require a high-end, $1,000+ PC to run. Gamers only need their PlayStation 4 gaming consoles to activate the headset.

According to Time, PlayStation VR Headset will offer games in a more immersive environment.

PlayStation VR release date

Sony announced the PlayStation VR headset will be released October this year. The tech company did not say the specific date, but an Amazon listing revealed the device will be available starting October 1.

The VR headset was initially announced in 2014, under the codename Project Morpheus. The launching of the device will coincide with the Christmas season, so expect some treat in the holidays. In December last year, Sony said it sold 5.7 million units, taking its cumulative tally to 35.9 million, according to CNBC.

PlayStation VR price

Interested buyers will have to shell out $399 to buy PlayStation VR. This package includes the headset, a processor unit, VR headset connection cable, USB cable, HDMI cable, headphones, and a power cord.

But it doesn't include the PlayStation Camera, which tracks the LED markers on the front and rear of the headset. The price range of the camera is between $44 and $59 depending on the retailer. Buyers should also have a DualShock 4 controller from PS4 to use the VR device.

For gamers who don't have PlayStation 4, they have to start from scratch. The price of the gaming console starts at $399.

PlayStation VR display

The PS VR screen offers a 1080p 5.7-inch OLED display, partnered with 360 degree tracking sensors. The 1920 x 1080 resolution is split into 960 x 1080 per eye. Interestingly, PS VR display is more advanced over some rivals. Sony's VR has a refresh rate capable of reaching 120Hz (120 frames per second).

PlayStation VR Games

Players can enjoy more than 50 games from PlayStation VR. Some of the compatible titles are EVE: Valkyrie, Tumble VR, Robinson: The Journey, Wayward Sky, RIGS Mechanized Combat League, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, PlayStation VR Worlds, and Eagle Flight.

Additionally, Sony said there will be Star Wars: Battlefront for the PlayStation VR, but it hasn't specified a release date.
