The Nationally Broadcast Concert of Prayer, featuring event coverage on the National Day of Prayer, will be aired live to millions through the National Religious Broadcaster’s network of television and radio stations. The three-hour program will air from 8-11 p.m. EDT on May 6.

A project of the National Prayer Committee, the event will be broadcasted live from New York City, with remotes in Daytona Beach, Fla, Lancaster, Pa, St. Louis, Mo and the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C.

NRB President Dr. Frank Wright and Chairman/CEO Glenn Plummer will participate in the live broadcast. Other Christian figures will be hosting the show from various locations. The program will include a message recorded by President Bush at The White House for National Day of Prayer. Other big names will be Commerce Secretary Don Evans (live from Daytona Beach, Fla.), James and Shirley Dobson, Kay Arthur (live from Jerusalem), Bruce Wilkinson (author of The Prayer of Jabez, live from South Africa), Henry Blackaby, and Jack Graham. Christian Contemporary Music artists Casting Crowns and RJ Helton will also join.

Wright urged all members of the 3,000-member Christian association to take the opportunity to assist event organizer Dr. Robert Bakke but also participate in the 10-year partnership between NRB and the National Prayer Committee, according to a letter sent April 20.

FamilyNet, TBN, Total Living Network, Moody Broadcasting Network, Bott Radio Network, among others have already signed-up to air the event.

The purpose of the Nationally Broadcast Concert of Prayer is nothing less than a national spiritual awakening, said Wright, who dated the Concert of Prayer movement to begin during the Great Awakening, “a historical Christian revival that took place 1735-45.”
