‘Red Dead Redemption 2’Release Date and Rumors: ‘Red Dead Redemption’ Backwards Compatibility with Xbox One

Rockstar, makers of the GTA franchise, scored another major hit about six years ago with Red Dead Redemption.  The game took place in an open world of the Old West, and it was a big seller amongst players.  It wasn't released to the Xbox One, but somehow the Backwards Compatibility made that happen, for a while.  Fans of the game are still left wondering if Red Dead Redemption 2 is on the way, and here is the latest news, rumors, and possible release date.

According to Gotta Be Mobile, there were a lot of Red Dead Redemption fans that were pleasantly surprised that the game was available in the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Program in the past week.  The odd thing is that this is some kind of mistake, and that "due to an error, some of the games currently in test were accidentally made available".  This is a quote from Larry Hryb, the Xbox Live director of programming also known as Major Nelson, apologizing on Reddit for this oversight, according to Polygon.

Apparently, Microsoft tests every game that comes to the Backwards Compatibility program, so this game must have been tested before its sudden surprise release.  The original Red Dead Redemption is certainly popular enough to merit being on the Backwards Compatibility, as it did not have an Xbox One release after is successful run on Xbox 360.

There have been other "mistakes" in the past allowing certain Xbox 360 games to be playable on the Xbox One, and this usually lasts about a day.  The list includes hit games like Halo Wars, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and Tekken Tag Tournament 2.  It's pretty clear that Red Dead Redemption didn't last long, so hopefully players got a chance to enjoy it while it lasted.

With all that being said, is there any word about Red Dead Redemption 2?  A report from Latinos Health has stated that Rockstar is deliberately triggering rumors about the game in order to build up for when they plan on releasing.  It shouldn't be any secret that Rockstar is working on a sequel to the best-selling game, just like they are more than likely working on a GTA 6

One of the more recent rumors states that the Rockstar Games is releasing Red Dead Redemption 2 in October 2016, it might even have a title of Red Dead Revolution.  That release date is pretty close, as far as video games are concerned, and considering that the first game came out in 2010, that certainly is enough time to make a decent sequel as well as find new ways to keep it under wraps.

It was predicted last year at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (also known as E3, a big video game convention held in the summer annually at the Los Angeles Convention Center) that Red Dead Redemption 2 would be announced.  Needless to say, it wasn't.  However, E3 2016 would be the place for Rockstar to show it off, and then make an announcement that it would be out before the holiday season.

That surely would be the best way to generated sales.  As far as what the game would be about, many have speculated that John Marston's son, Jack, would be the protagonist of his own Western story.  Do you think that is a good idea?  Feel free to leave a comment on what you think Red Dead Redemption 2 should focus on.
