The San Antonio Spurs are gaining momentum as they slowly ease out the Golden State Warriors off the top spot in the Western Conference in the hopes of meeting the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2017 NBA Finals. With Kawhi Leonard, LaMarcus Aldridge and Danny Green on fire in the hardwood court, the Gregg Popovich team has become a dangerous threat to Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. Will a Rudy Gay trade boost their chances of becoming the top team in the years to come?

The Sacramento Kings' announcement of the DeMarcus Cousins trade to the New Orleans Pelicans made one thing clear among the team's fans: change is coming. This means that the Ty Lawson squad could look forward to a roster revamp as most of the players were signed to complement Boogie. Although the changes excite fans, it looks like these have not affected the Rudy Gay trade rumors too much. In fact, the veteran star is reportedly scouting for a good team to end his career in by his free agency.

Rumors are rife that the San Antonio Spurs are looking for an early Rudy Gay trade from the Sacramento Kings to eliminate competition in the free agent market. With the steady and stable winning culture in the Kawhi Leonard team, this could be the ideal place for the Sacramento Kings star. At the moment though, no official comment has been given by the parties tagged in this NBA trade rumor.

Right now, the Rudy Gay trade rumors are on pause as the veteran Sacramento Kings star nurses himself back to health. In an interview regarding his setbacks as an NBA player, he shared that he felt the obstacles merely reminded him to focus and try harder in his career.  

"God does things for a reason," shared Rudy Gay. "I feel like the reason it happened to me was I needed to get back on my grind, do what I used to do, and I've had time to think about things I've done wrong and I can do better. I've always trained hard, but now I feel like I've got to do everything I can to be the best player I can."
