Samsung launched a new line of Galaxy devices with the A branding back in March, as it trademarked names like the A6, A8, and A9.  Rumors have been flooding in since then about certain phones, and this is what is known about the Samsung Galaxy A8 Release Date, Specs, and other Rumors. 

According to Phone Arena, a full spec sheet of the Samsung Galaxy A8 has been leaked out, and it has been confirmed that the Galaxy A8 will be the thinnest Samsung phone at 5.9 mm.  Here are some of the other specs:

The screen is a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display that has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels.  It will also have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chip (4x ARM Cortex-A53 @1.7 GHz, 4 Cortex-A43 @ 1.0 GHz) with Adreno 405 GPU.  As far as memory is concerned, it should have 16 GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM.  The camera is a 16 Megapixels in the rear with real-time HDR and a f/1.9 aperture lens, and 5 Megapixels in the front.  That battery is pretty large for a phone so thin at about 3,050 mAh. 

In addition to all this, the Samsung Galaxy A8 will have Android 5.1 Lollipop right out of the box.  The issue is when it will be upgradeable to Android M, which has yet to roll out and still doesn't even have an official nickname from a sweet treat as yet. 

According to a separate article from Phone Arena, the Galaxy A8 was previously certified by the FCC with support for LTE brand 41 only, so it will probably set to sell in China, with a questionable international release.  Samsung released that Galaxy A7 in February this year, with lower specs than the A8, and this phone has yet to have an international release. 

It certainly is an odd move for Samsung, given that the company has produced a lot in the Samsung Galaxy S series.  Perhaps the purpose of the A Series is to give customers low-budget options for smartphones, even though they are not related to its flagship series.  It is possible that Samsung wants to go with its new philosophy and put aesthetics and design first, which means we could be looking at a new age of A-branded smartphones that not only look good, but are just as good as anything in the S series or beyond. 

Keep in mind that all that has been received about the Samsung Galaxy A8 comes in the form of leaks.  Samsung hasn't really stepped up to the microphone in order to give a formal announcement, but that will probably come within the next few days, most likely.  There are leaked videos of the phone available to watch online, like this one on Tech Times.
