Samsung Galaxy S 5

Samsung announced the fifth generation of the Galaxy S series, the Galaxy S5, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain on February 24. The release date is scheduled to be April 11 in 150 countries and all major carriers in the U.S. will carry the device.

We are still not sure if the American carriers will have the same release date or not. So far Sprint, AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile have set up a sign-up page but didn't specifically announce the release date. The Galaxy S5 will be available at major retailers such as Walmart, Target, Amazon.com, Best Buy, Costco.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with a quad-core Qualcomm Krait 2.5GHz processing powerhouse, it has a bigger display than S4. The S5 is 5.1-inch FHD Super AMOLED 1920 x 1080 resolution and the dimensions are 142 x 72.5 x 8.1 mm. It weighs in at just 145 grams.

Despite its familiar design, the GS5 has a few new useful hardware features, including a fingerprint scanner, which you can make PayPal payments and lock parts of the phone. The Ultra Power Saving Mode turns the display to black and white and shuts down all unnecessary features to minimize the battery consumption.

The new Galaxy S5 also offers superior camera functionality, featuring a 16-megapixel camera with an enhanced menu and user interface that allow consumers to effortlessly take, edit and share photos. It is waterproof and dustproof and will be available in black, white, blue and copper gold.
