Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update Release Date for Samsung Galaxy S5, S4, Note 3 and Note 2

Android

The Android operating system just received another upgrade to version 5.0, otherwise known as Lollipop.  Like usual Android rollouts, the newest version will be available on their latest devices, and some devices will not get it until later.  Unfortunately, international variants of the popular Samsung Galaxy S4, the Samsung Galaxy S5, as well as the Galaxy Note 2 or 3 might not get the latest version, Android 4.4.4. Instead, they might have to wait until the rollout of Android 5.0.

Android users of the Galaxy S4, S5, Note 3, and Note 2 can check their devices under "Settings" and "About phone", and it will tell the version of Android.  Most non-international variants of these phones might have Android 4.4.4 listed, but some of these international variants still have the 4.4.2 KitKat on them.

Android 4.4.4 has many improvements for the operating system including E911 call issue fix, Knox 2.0, as well as some miscellaneous improvements like bug fixes and security updates. The reason for the delay in the update might be because Samsung wants to polish up Android 5.0 so it will be a better experience for its global user community.

In the meantime, non-international users of the S4, S5, Note 3, and Note 2 can fully enjoy the Android 4.4.4 rollout.  A notification should have been received by users of these phones already.  In order to receive these updates, users should free up 285 MB of space.  Then they should obtain a reliable Internet connection, as updates for Android have been known to eat up a lot of data on user's plans.  Users should also make certain that the device is 100 percent charged.  The download usually doesn't take more than a ten minutes away from the user's phone.

Owners of the Galaxy S5 and Verizon customers should have the 4.4.4 update. T-Mobile is also having a rollout of the update on some of the lesser known models such as the Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Galaxy Note 10.1 edition.

Some International carriers are up-to-date on the latest updates of Android, such as those in Australia.  Telstra actually has eight updates for several Galaxy devices, with the Galaxy Note 2 update due in late November. There is also a planned update that is a bug fix for the Galaxy S3 coming in December.

At this point in time, Samsung still has plenty of Android 4.4 KitKat updates that are currently being worked on.  If you have a Galaxy S5, S4, Note 2 or Note 3, you might be getting more updates before you arrive at Lollipop 5.0, which is slated to arrive for U.S. customers sometime in January.
