Earlier this month, owners of the Samsung Galaxy S5 were told that they'd be getting the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system update "in the next few days," but many have yet to get the notification that the over-the-air (OTA) download is available.

While U.S. customers are mostly still waiting for the update, Samsung Galaxy S5 users in the U.K. have reported that they're getting the download to their phones now. According to several reports on Reddit, Samsung plans to update the S5 as its first priority, and then move on to the Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge, and then run down the line for the remaining Galaxy phones and tablets from there, including the older Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3.

Originally, many believed that the Samsung line of products would start getting the Lollipop updates in December, especially after popular Samsung news site SamMobile began releasing videos of Android Lollipop on the Galaxy S5. But December came and went with still no word from the Korean tech manufacturer.

Samsung had originally said that they planned to release the latest mobile operating system within 90 days of the software's launch, so that would put us right at mid-February. With that deadline fast approaching, we're getting more and more reports from users who have been getting the notifications that the Lollipop update is available for their particular phone. As with any Android OS update, the software is rolled out in stages, so even if other Galaxy S5 users are receiving the Lollipop update now, you may still have to wait a bit longer, especially if you're on a contract agreement with a U.S. carrier like AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile or U.S. Cellular.

On top of these expected device upgrades, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha is expected to get the latest update as soon as it launches. Danny Dorresteijn, the co-founder of SamMobile, tweeted back in December that the Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3, and the new Galaxy Alpha will all get Android 5.0 in Q1 of this year. That still gives us another few weeks or so to wait, but most expect Lollipop to drop before the end of the quarter, anyway.

And if all goes well, both the Galaxy Note Edge and the Galaxy Note 4 will not only get Lollipop, but they're expected to jump straight to either 5.0.1 or the latest 5.0.2 right away. SamMobile has spotted the latest incremental update running on these devices, but others may skip ahead, too.

And if SamMobile's sources are correct, Lollipop will role out to all Samsung Galaxy models from the last 18 months or so, including the Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S5 Mini, Note Pro, Tab S, and even the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition.

As of right now, Android 5.0 has been released to several European countries, including Poland, Spain, the U.K. and Russia, with a release imminent for the Czech Republic and Romania. In Asia, users in Hong Kong and Malaysia have reported receiving the update, which usually indicates that the west is up next.
