Official announcement for Nougat update on the Galaxy S7
 The Android Soul

Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge owners in Europe, a little bit more of stretching your patience would be rewarded by the presence of an Android 7.0 Nougat update this coming January 17, 2017. How do we know this? A screenshot of the purported Android Nougat update that has been applied to a Samsung Galaxy S7 handset has already begun to make its rounds online, in addition to an official announcement from Turkey that further confirmed this good news. It looks like all those long moments of waiting, even after going through four Samsung Galaxy Beta programs, have paid off.

Do take note that while the leaked screenshot points to the model number G935F, which so happens to be the European version of the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, one cannot help but make a safe assumption that the vanilla Galaxy S7 will receive a similar update too. After all, over in the UK, US, South Korea, and China, both Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge owners were treated to the Samsung Galaxy Beta program in recent months. This particular Galaxy Beta program allowed select Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge owners to enjoy a little bit of Android 7.0 Nougat goodness in a limited fashion. Since the Galaxy Beta program came to an end just last month, Samsung then stepped forward to proclaim that there will be an official version which will be introduced some time in January this year. It is now nice to know that January 17, 2017 is the date of choice for the Android Nougat update to officially roll out to the masses in less than a week’s tie.

Would there be other Galaxy S7 variants that might be left out in the event where the new operating system update arrives? Yes -- there are the Galaxy S7 edge Olympics Games limited edition as well as the Galaxy S7 edge Injustice edition since these two handsets somehow did not manage to make it to the list in the Galaxy Beta Program. Not only that, it remains to be seen as to when the remaining Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge owners worldwide (apart from the countries mentioned earlier) would be on the receiving end of the Android Nougat update. Hopefully, it would be sooner as opposed to later.

As for the version of Android Nougat that is set to arrive, so far no one really knows which would be the right one. Some say that it will be Android 7.0 Nougat based on what the leaked screenshot shows, while others noted that Samsung did mention how their current generation flagship handsets would be picking up Android 7.1.1 Nougat when the update arrives just to make sure that it manages to keep pace with the rest of its competitors.

IB Times has also weighed in on the situation, citing that selected versions of the handset, including models on Verizon's network and Vodafone Australia, will pick up Android 7.0 Nougat by the time the update is released. Well, we will simply need to sit back and wait for January 17 to arrive in order to be sure for ourselves.
