In a leaked information circulating around the internet, it says the wearable might have water resistance feature and more powerful internal components.  Here's the latest update about Samsung Gear Fit 2 release date, specs and rumors on the web.

Tech blog SamMobile published the rumored specs of the Gear Fit 2. The website reported the wearable will sport a 1.55-inch Super AMOLED display. Inside, it will be powered by a 1GHz Exynos processor and 512MB of RAM. It will also come with 2GB of internal storage and Samsung's Tizen 2.3 operating system. To make the device more usable, Samsung installed 200mAh battery capacity.

Furthermore, the sports watch will have sensors for GPS and GLONASS, heart rate, gyroscope, barometer and accelerometer. Moreover, it might have a water resistance feature. Techno Buffalo said the wearable could have IP68 certified body which will ensure its functionality in 1.5-meters of water for 30 minutes.

Gear Fit 2 is expected to have functions like distance tracker, heart rate monitor, pedometer and activity maps. Rumors around the internet also suggest the wearable may have iOS compatibility, which would allow iPhone owners to use it.

Take note that Samsung has not yet confirmed or denied any of the Gear Fit 2- related rumors above, so let's take with a proverbial pinch of salt. It is expected the South Korean tech giant will announce more details in the next couple of days.  The Verge suggested the launching of Gear Fit 2 will happen in June.

Interestingly, Samsung has begun sending out invites for a media conference next month. The invitation states attendees will witness how "Samsung's devices work together to create a Galaxy of possibility." The company did not give any details what devices will be revealed at the said event, but there is a strong indication that the new Gear Fit 2 will be announced.  The press event will start at 5 p.m. local time in New York City on June 2.

Meanwhile, VentureBeat reported Samsung sold more than 3.1 million smartwatches in 2015 -- only a modest increase from the 2.7 million it shipped in 2014. With the forthcoming launching of Gear Fit 2, the company hopes to make good sales this year.
