The South Korean device maker already gave us much to look forward to about its next smartwatch model. Its new Samsung Gear S2 have been teased many times, most recently during the Unpacked event earlier this month.

As of now, we know that it will sport a round display, a rotating bezel to control the interface with, and a premium metal build that's supposed to give the Apple Watch a serious run for its money.

What we don't know yet is if the upcoming wearable will come bearing a SIM card slot. If a recent report out of Italy is to be believed, the answer would be yes. A post by Italian tech site HDBlog.it mentions that the Gear S2 will come with a nano-SIM card slot.

If proven to be accurate, this will enable users of the smartwatch to make and receive calls even without being paired with a smartphone. The model is also expected to have Wi-Fi connectivity, but sporting a SIM card will allow it to connect to the Internet independently. So basically, it can function as a really small, wristwatch-sized cellphone.

This information is not entirely surprising as the same feature was already present on the original Samsung Gear 2. The main difference lies on the next-gen model's circular design, which appears to be what consumers want these days. On the other hand, the older Gear S has a curved rectangular design.

As mentioned, Samsung has given us sneak peeks of this device multiple times. It now seems that the company really doesn't want us to forget that a new Gear S2 is coming--A vivid image of the upcoming wearable tech has just been posted by a Samsung executive on his Instagram account.

We don't how many filters Dennis Miloseski applied to the photo, which you can see above, but we're pretty sure that it is indeed the next-gen smartwatch as he captioned it with: "Giving the new Samsung Gear S2 a test drive. #samsung #watch #wearable #nextlevel."

Miloseski is the vice president and studio head of Samsung Design America and his Instagram snap is by far the best photo we have seen for the unannounced device.

Given that Samsung powered the first-gen Gear S with its own Tizen OS, it's safe to assume that the Gear S2 will run the same OS. That is essentially one of the main drawbacks for this smartwatch. Many users complain about Samsung's decision to use Tizen instead of Android Wear, citing the former's lack of available apps to fully enjoy the device with. That said, Google's Android Wear and Apple's WatchOS for the Apple Watch enjoy a diverse range of apps for users to download.

Samsung previously confirmed that the much anticipated round Gear S2 will officially be announced on September 3 during the IFA 2015 event in Berlin, Germany.
