Samsung has officially announced the "Unpacked 2014 Episode 2" event, where it is expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 4 and Gear S watch.

The event will take place on September 3, 3p.m. CEST local time in Germany (U.S. 9 a.m. EST/ 6 a.m. PST), the invite-only gathering is scheduled to be held in New York City, Berlin, and Beijing simultaneously. However, the South Korean firm plans to provide live coverage via Samsung Mobile's YouTube channel. So, the general public will also be able to see the official unveiling of the highly-anticipated device.

Galaxy Note 4

On Monday, Aug. 11, GSMarena leaked images of what appears to be the Galaxy Note 4. The photos feature a metallic device with leather-like texture on the back. There is an S Pen holster on the side, along with a speaker grill and microUSB 3.0 port beneath the phone. A heartbeat sensor can be seen next to the camera lens.

The same day, Phone Arena released a photo showing the alleged retail box for the upcoming mobile device. Interestingly, both sources show a device similar in physical appearance from the front side. This consistency adds a small measure of credibility to the two recent photo leaks.

Gear S smartwatch

Besides the Galaxy Note 4, Samsung will unveil its Gear S smartwatch at IFA. Announced in late August, the Gear S is able to connect independently to the internet.

In contrast, the current model Gear Live smartwatch needs to be paired with a smartphone in order to work. Also, the Gear S uses Samsung's proprietary Tizen OS. With the exception of Apple's iWatch, most smartwatches are running on the Android Wear operating system.
