Screen Actors Guild Awards 2016 Winners: Spotlight, Carol Burnett Receives Lifetime Achievement

By Julie Brown Patton

Many actresses and actors are vying Saturday (Jan. 30) at the 2016 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards to be honored for the best performances of 2015. The 22nd annual awards are airing live at 7 p.m. CST on TNT and TBS.

Early pre-show awards were given to "Mad Max: Fury Road" and "Game of Thrones" in the stunt ensemble categories, reports The Los Angeles Times.

The Screen Actors Guild does not pick a best picture winner, however instead chooses a best ensemble cast.

Comedian Carol Burnett is set to receive the lifetime achievement award. The 82-year-old star is best known for her long-running variety and sketch-comedy series, "The Carol Burnett Show."

"Carol Burnett is a creative dynamo and a comedic genius," SAG-AFTRA President Ken Howard said. "She embodies the generosity and courage that the greatest actors use in creating enduring and memorable characters."
