The Seattle Seahawks finished the regular season on a high note, winning eight of their last ten games. Now, they are hoping to carry that momentum to an NFC wild card playoff matchup against Minnesota Vikings.

Heading into the Sunday's game, the Seahawks established themselves as a serious contender for the Super Bowl. They closed the regular season with a dominant 36-6 win against Arizona. The game highlighted the offensive prowess of quarterback Russell Wilson.

The 27-year-old quarterback has made the best football of his career during the second half of the season. He set Seattle's franchise records for passing yards, touchdown passes, and quarterback rating.

In addition to Wilson's contributions, wide receiver Doug Baldwin produced vast numbers for the team. The receiver set a team record with 14 touchdown receptions. Moreover, the offense will have a big boost from running back Marshawn Lynch, who is expected to return on Sunday.

Lynch missed last seven games of the season while recovering from abdominal surgery in November. An ESPN article claimed that he is the second-best running back in the league, so expect him to make good plays against the Vikings.

On another hand, Minnesota Vikings want to bounce back from their 38-7 home loss to the Seahawks Dec. 6.  The team won three consecutive games before the regular season ends. The team also won 20-13 against Green Bay to capture their first division title since 2009.

Star running back Adrian Peterson leads the Vikings' offense. In games in which he carried the ball 18 or more times, the Vikings are 10-1.

If Peterson is effective, and the downfield passing game develops, the Vikings have a big chance to win against the Seahawks. However, an ineffective Peterson means second-year quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has to take over to try to win the game. Bridgewater has been inconsistent throughout the season.

As a conclusion, the Vikings' defense has allowed only 47 points in the past three games, and the team should be far more competitive in the Sunday's encounter. Also, expect Peterson to run the ball early to set the tone of Vikings' offense.
