Smith's "One Nation" Kicks-Off Major Concert in DelRay, FL.

Michael W. Smith¦s continuing §One Nation Tour¨ will make its way down to Florida this summer as he will be headlining a July 22 concert intended to reintroduce musical events and to boost revenue at the Delray Beach Stadium downtown.

With joining Christian artists MercyMe and the David Crowder Band, the event is expecting a full house of 6,500.

Delray Beach Mayor Jeff Perlman had signed a contract on Dec. 9 with World Wide Entertainment Inc. headquartered in Miami for a minimum of five musical events annually for a three-year term. The company maintains offices in Philadelphia; Detroit; San Antonio; Beverly Hills, Calif.; Hong Kong; Sydney, Australia; Berlin; Amsterdam, Netherlands; and London.

"We have several things in the works," said Bobby Reynolds, 28, talent buyer for World Wide Entertainment. "We're looking for classic rock, but we're looking for all genres of music and not limiting ourselves to one style. Our forte is live entertainment, music, comedy and Broadway. We want people of all ages to come and have a good time."

Also participating is JCD Sports Group, managing the tennis complex on East Atlantic Avenue west of Swinton Avenue where the stadium is located. The stadium has periodic major tennis tournaments such as the recent Davis Cup, the Sept. 13-19 International Tennis Championship featuring past Davis Cup participants Andy Roddick and Mardy Fish, and also the Dec. 3-5 Chris Evert Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic.

"We're thrilled to be able to bring the third-largest promoter in the world to provide entertainment at this facility and help us put the Delray Beach Stadium on the map," said Brahm Dubin, president of JCD.

City officials and concert promoters are hoping and looking to draw concertgoers from a 40-mile radius. Tickets can be purchased from the Ticketmaster at 561-966-3309.
