Smartphone 2016 Rumor - Xperia Z6 to be Launched in March 2016

Even though the year 2015 has been quite uneventful for Sony about smartphones, it looks like the tech company is preparing to catch up this year. The Xperia Z6 series might hit the stores in five different versions, including Z6 Lite.

The full array of choices allows gadget lovers to pick the best device for them. Each version of Xperia phones is set to cater the needs of Sony followers.

The five models of Xperia Z6 lineup are the standard base model, Xperia Z6 Mini, Xperia Z6 Plus, Xperia Z6 Ultra and Z6 Lite, according to a published article from Vine Report.

Xperia Mini Z6 is the least powerful among five phones. Online reports said this device is set to have a 4.0-inch screen and Snapdragon 620 processor. The other four Xperia phones will be powered with the latest Snapdragon 820 chipset for faster processing capability. Their display sizes range from 5.6-inches to 6.4-inches.

Furthermore, the bigger Xperia Z6s might receive a pressure sensitive display, which slowly becomes a norm in latest smartphones. The technology works like a charm. When the screen surface is pressed or touched, it responds with necessary touch information.

For the camera technology of Sony Xperia Z6, expect it to belong to the ranks of top-class snappers. The device is set to boast a state-of-the-art camera that has 23-MP resolution.

On another hand, the Sony Xperia Z6 Lite is tipped to feature a 5-inch display, putting it somewhere between the Xperia Z6 Compact and the Xperia Z6. Independent.ie published the device will utilize a hexacore Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 SoC and feature a metal rear panel.

The same source said the Xperia Z6 Lite is set to hit the market in May and cost around $385.

Tech Radar said latest Sony phones could be unveiled at the CES 2016 or MWC 2016. Nevertheless, it's highly likely that a Sony smartphone will arrive in the first half of the year.

Analysts claimed that the Z6 series would likely go head-to-head with both the Samsung Galaxy S7 and iPhone 7.

As always, readers are advised to take the reported Z6 Lite-related information with the proverbial pinch of salt as Sony has not made any official announcement so far.

Expect to hear more about Sony's official plans during the Mobile World Congress in February.
