Sony Xperia Z4 Release Date, Rumors; Android L 5.0 Update Coming To Xperia Z3 And Z2

There have been many Sony Xperia Z4 rumors, including the release date.  Within these rumors are those of the release date of the Lollipop update for the already existing Sony flagship smartphones Z2 and Z3.  So much that you might need an Android L 5.0 and 5.0.2 update guide for the Sony Xperia Z3 and Z2.

A recent posting on Concept Phones by Sanjaya Kanishka shows a rendering of the Sony Xperia Z4.  This comparison actually shows that the Xperia Z4 is a little bit smaller than the Xperia Z3.  This is somewhat surprising, as most phone series have been increasing in size, such as the iPhone and Galaxy S series.

In addition to the size, the rendering also shows a feature known as X-Ploid, which is Sony speaker technology designed to increase bass.  That is a feature that I have never heard of, but there will be stereo dual speakers with the X-Ploid as well as S Master HX Walkman support.

Another article from Concept Phones shows evidence of an Xperia Z4 Compact, a concept created by Wan Mal.  The specs include a 4.8 inch HD (900 x 1600) Triluminous Display at 352ppi.  It will also have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 with Adreno 420 GPU, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB internal memory, and micro SD for up to 128 GB.  The battery will be 2800 mAh with 2 days of battery life, and the cameras will be a 20.7 Megapixel on the rear and 5 Megapixels on the front.  It is also IP65/68 certified.

Much of the specs of the Z4 differ than what we previously reported.  We stated that the phone might have a 5.2 to 5.5 inch screen, but we were somewhat close on the camera with the front-facing being 4.8 inches rather than a full 5.

I think one feature that will definitely be on the Xperia Z4 is it will have Lollipop out of the box.  We have reported that Lollipop (Android operating system 5.0) needs to come to the Xperia series , such as the Z3 and Z2.  This type of update probably won't be coming until the beginning of 2015.   Hopefully, the software patches of 5.0.1 and 5.0.2 will be available.

One of the biggest rumors is that the Sony Xperia Z4 will make an appearance at CES 2015.  For those of you who are not in the know, CES 2015 is a large expo for consumer electronics companies.   It would not surprise me if the Xperia Z4 was at Sony's booth, representing the latest of Sony's flagship phones.  We have said earlier that Sony might wait until Mobile World Congress in March before it officially unveils that highly anticipated Xperia Z4 phone.
