Android 5.1 Lollipop Update Status for Sony Xperia Z3 and Z2: Xperia Z4 (Z3+) Release Date, Specs

Sony officially unveiled the Xperia Z4 which the company described as a premium addition to the Xperia Z3 series flagship smartphones, a slim, sleek and stylish high-performing premium smartphone. The new Sony Xperia Z4 smartphone comes with 5.20-inch 1080x1920 display powered by 1.5GHz processor alongside 3GB RAM and 20.7-megapixel rear camera.

However, those in the U.S. need to wait a little longer for the Sony Xperia Z4v, the US variant of the Sony flagship, as Sony pushed back its release beyond August 13 but did not provide details when the Verizon-exclusive handset will be available in the U.S. market, reported Christian Today.

For the rest of the world, the Xperia Z4 is officially called the Sony Xperia Z3+, but it will be marketed in japan as the Xperia Z4, said TechRadar.

The Sony Xperia Z4 phone comes with 32/64 GB, 4 GB RAM with a microSD support of up to 128 GB. The latest Sony smartphone is powered with Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & Quad-core 2 GHz Cortex-A57 processor which gives maximum performance with Non-removable Li-Ion battery.

Sony Xperia Z4 is sporting 5.2 inches screen and 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution with Shatter proof glass protection. It has a 20.7 MP primary camera capable of sensor size, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama. The front camera of the Sony Xperia Z4 phone handset is 5 MP, 1080p@30fps for selfies.

It also comes in four sophisticated color options to meet your individual taste and style - classic Black and White are joined by a new interpretation of Copper and Aqua Green.

The Xperia Z3+ of Z4, features an ultra-bright 5.2" Full HD smart adaptive display that provides increased brightness and contrast, without losing stamina. Sony's TRILUMINOSTM Display for mobile with Live Colour LED and X-Reality for mobile ensure sharper and more vivid colours. Sony Vows to Rollout Android 5.1 Lollipop to Xperia Z3 and Z2

Starting in July, Sony will upgrade the Xperia Z3 and Z2 to Android 5.1 Lollipop - according to their blog posting. Earlier this year, the Japanese tech firm pushed out Android 5.0 Lollipop on the entire Xperia Z series lineup. Both the Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3 will also be getting Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Naturally, users with unlocked devices will receive the update first. Those who are on a monthly subscription plan through a carrier will need to wait a bit longer. Generally, it takes awhile for wireless service providers to distribute the latest Android update from the manufacturers
