Latest news about Android M roll out to Sony Xperia devices

The Sony's recent Xperia Z5 is one of the best smartphones available in the market today. It features an excellent low-light camera, the fingerprint sensor on the side power button and shock-absorbing body. However, it seems that Sony is planning to release even more powerful device this year. Here's what we know so far about Xperia Z6's release date, specs and news.

By examining the previous release cycles of Sony's flagship Xperia phones, tech experts predicted that the Z6 would possibly arrive in the middle of the year, according to Alphr. Xperia 3+ released in June last year while Xperia Z5 became available on Oct. 1.

The Sony also plans to launch five versions of Z6 phones. The five different models are 4-inch Xperia Z6 Mini, a 4.6-inch Xperia Z6 Compact, a 5.2-inch Xperia Z6, a 5.8-inch Xperia Z6 Plus and 6.4-inch Xperia Z6 Ultra, reports from International Business Times.

Gadget lovers expect Sony will retain the IP68 water and dust resistance features for the Z6. This feature keeps the USB and headphone ports covered against dust and liquid. The device will be Sony's first phone this year, so it is highly likely to have a USB Type-C and built-in wireless charging capacity.

For the Z6's Lite version, it is expected to have a 5-inch display touch screen, a 2.5D curved metal and glass design for its overall look and a brilliant processor.  The device will house a hexacore Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 SoC, reports from Independent.ie published.

The Mini Z6 is the least powerful among five version of Z6. It will only have a 4.0-inch screen and Snapdragon 620 processor. For the other Z6 versions, they will have the latest Snapdragon 820 chipset for multi-tasking and robust performance.

The bigger Xperia Z6s might receive a pressure sensitive display, which slowly becomes a norm in latest smartphones in the market. The technology allows users to have more access to the phone's utilities by just the touching the device's screen.

As for the price of Sony's new flagship device, it is certain the Z6 will launch with an RRP of $790. This hefty priced is blamed to the phone's metal and glass body, high-end camera and powerful innards.

Tech experts believe that the Z6 line-up would likely go head-to-head against Samsung Galaxy S7 and iPhone 7.
