‘Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness’ USA, Canada Release Date with Day One and Collector’s Edition

"Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithfulness" Coming June 28. Square Enix

Square Enix certainly has its hands full of creating new games of their well-established franchises.  Fans of Final Fantasy will finally be getting Final Fantasy 15 in September, and there is another Kingdom Hearts game on the way set for 2017.  The company also has another science-fiction RPG series with Star Ocean, and like the previously mentioned franchises of Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy, it has been a while since there has been a new Star Ocean game.  That changed last week as Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness debuted in Japan last month, and this is what is known about the North American release date.

Those that aren't aware of the Star Ocean should know that the first game of the series was released in 1996 only in Japan for the Super Famicom.  It then had a sequel with Star Ocean: The Second Story, released on PlayStation in 1998, taking place twenty years after the first game.  Then there was a direct sequel called Star Ocean: Blue Sphere released to the Game Boy Color in 2001, set two years after Star Ocean: The Second Story.  There is then a huge time-jump as the next game, Star Ocean: Till the End of Time (released in 2004 for the PlayStation 2) takes place 400 years after the last game.  In 2009, a prequel to the entire series known as Star Ocean: The Last Hope was released on the Xbox 360.

This leads to Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithfulness, which is going to focus on a story in between Star Ocean: The Second Story and Star Ocean: Till the End of Time.  The latest game will be available for the PlayStation 4 in North America on June 28, and like most major video game releases, there will be special editions, according to The Examiner

The first is the Day One Edition, and it is priced at $59.99.  It includes two background music themes that players can have playing during battle, with music like "Valkyrie Profile" and "Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria".  There is also a download code for several in-game items including The Ring of the Valkyries, Gold Bunny Statue, Bushybrume Cincture, Wristlet of the Stars and Secret Sthalian Tome.

The Collector's Edition of Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithfulness is priced at $109.99.  In addition to all the bonuses of the Day One Edition, the Collector's Edition will have even more extras and bonuses.  The version will come in a steel book case, as well as The Sounds of Star Ocean, a 16-track CD sampler soundtrack with music from the composer Motoi Sakuraba.  It will also feature an 80-page hardcover art book called The Art of Star Ocean, which will have art from the series.  There will also be eight exclusive art cards featuring illustrations by the character designer akiman, as well as a Pangalactic Federation ID card. This version of the game is only available on the Square Enix Online Store
