For some time now, it has been rumored that Electronic Arts is already working on the sequel of "Star Wars Battlefront." And, based on the recent statements made by studio chief Patrick Soderlund, it seems the sequel will feature a key gameplay aspect that is not available in the first game.

"Star Wars Battlefront" originally came out in November of last year. Although the game received relatively positive reviews due to its overall gameplay and other features, it was heavily criticized due to the lack of a single-player mode. This was a key factor that prevented the game from achieving a 100 percent rating in reviews.

Aside from single-player, the game also did not have a proper campaign mode. As previously explained by the EA, the developers intentionally did not include a campaign to release the game just in time for the film "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

But, after learning from their mistakes in the first game, it seems EA is ready to develop a single-player mode and story campaign for "Star Wars Battlefront 2."

"The one thing we got criticized for was the lack of a single-player campaign," Soderlund said during the EA Investor's Day event according to Gamespot. "It was a conscious decision I made due to time and being able to launch the game side-by-side with the movie that came out to get the strongest possible impact."

"I think the team created a really good game based on the premise that we had," he added. "I would say the game has done very well for us and reached a very different demographic than a traditional EA game. So from that perspective, it's a success. Are we happy with the 75 rating? No. Is that something we're going to cure going forward? Absolutely."

For now, details about "Star Wars Battlefront 2" are a bit unclear but based on what Soderlund said, gamers can expect the game to have an offline mode. As for its release date, EA has not yet announced an official launch date for the game. But, since the first game came out in November of 2015, one can only assume that the sequel could debut in the same month this year.
