Stephen Tong Reformed Theology Summer Course to Open in N. America

Specialized in Reformed Theology, the renowned Indonesian Chinese evangelist Rev. Stephen Tong is going to start the Reformed Institute of Christianity Summer Courses in North America.

Specialized in Reformed Theology, the renowned Indonesian Chinese evangelist Rev. Stephen Tong is going to start the Reformed Institute of Christianity Summer Courses in North America.

A number of themed lectures, seminars and workshop are prepared by the Stephen Tong Evangelistic Ministry International (STEMI) for the summer courses. According to the course description, it will run from August 14-19. There are three sessions everyday with lectures and other activities led by famous preachers.

In the morning, Rev. Peter Chow will speak on the theme "Saving Grace and Charismatic Gifts." The purpose of this course is three fold. First of all, it is to discuss the controversy regarding the order in which the various spiritual blessings are imparted will be discussed. Secondly, it will tackle the issues raised by the charismatic movement and seek biblical answers, including the baptism of the Holy Spirit, filling of the Spirit, prophecy, tongues, healing, and exorcism. Rev. Chow will also clarify the relationship between the doctrine of salvation and the charismatic gifts.

Rev. Stephen Chan will be in charge of another 3-hour class "Apologetics and Literature: C.S. Lewis" in the afternoon. Every evening and on Saturday morning, Rev. Luke Lu would be holding 3-hour exposition on "Systematic Theology - Doctrine of Man." The course is based on the Bible to study important theological topics such as "the origin and the nature of man," "man as the image of God," "the beginning and the fall of man," "the guilt and the depravity of man." The purpose is to help Christians understand the relationship between God and man, to live in Christ as new creation, so that personal spiritual life and Christian ministry may be built on the Biblical foundation.

The Summer Course is set to be held in Philadelphia. Each course will be charged $100.
