Super Smash Bros 4 will soon include Lucas, whose release date is coming on June 14. He will be part of a DLC package that is playable on Wii U and 3DS. Nintendo confirmed this launch schedule on Twitter last week.

The Lucas DLC release comes days before the highly anticipated E3 2015 gathering, which will start June 16-18 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Who Is Lucas?

Relatively obscure in the West, Lucas is the main character of Mother 3. The videogame has only been released to the Japanese market. Even so, diehard aficionados have managed to translate Mother 3 into English.

Lucas is the second character to be joining the Smash Bros lineup. The first DLC character package featured Mewtwo, a fan-favorite from the Pokémon universe.

Smash Bros Characters Voting Event

Nintendo is planning to add more characters, and is already asking fans for input.

Players can vote for their favorite characters via the official Smash Bros website. However, it important to remember that Nintendo may not necessarily follow voting results when adding new characters. Outside factors such as technical challenges and the character's market-value will also affect the final decision.

The online ballot will remain open until October 3, 2015. So, interested parties will need to act quickly. Bear in mind that players are only allowed to cast one vote.

Nintendo E3 Events

Unlike other videogame companies, Nintendo is not hosting host a live show at E3. Instead, it will launch its Digital Event that is set two days before the start of the conference. This pre-recorded, 45-min presentation will start at 9am PST on June 16.

Nintendo director Masahiro Sakurai will host the Digital Event, according to a recent tweet by Nintendo America.

Besides this Digital Event, the gaming company will also release a special video showcasing Super Smash Bros updates on June 14. This presentation will air at 7:40am PST.
