‘Supergirl’ Moving To CW After Getting Season 2 Renewed, ‘Agent Carter’ Gets Cancelled

Fans of the superhero television series "Supergirl" will be happy to know that the show has been renewed for a second season. However, "Agent Carter," another on-screen heroine, was not so lucky as it had just been cancelled by ABC.

Aside from the renewal, "Supergirl" will also be moving to a new home. The series, which originally aired on CBS, will now appear on its subsidiary company The CW. Apparently, the move to relocate to show to another network was done to actually save it.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, producer Warner Bros. has been having a bit of a problem regarding the show's budget, which is currently the most expensive first-year show of CBS. Although the show has a strong viewer base, its high production cost is enough to cause the network to rethink its second season.

So, in order to save the show by reducing its production cost, CBS has decided to turn it over to The CW. This also means that the production of the show will move from Los Angeles to Vancouver. Since this is also where The CW films its other DC Comics shows, such as "The Flash" and "Arrow" this could also indicate the possibility of more crossovers between these programs and "Supergirl."

As for "Marvel's Agent Carter," ABC has decided to cancel the show, which means it will no longer have a follow-up after season 2. The decision to axe the show was primarily due to its low viewer ratings despite getting strong reviews.

But even with the cancellation, this doesn't meant that viewers will no longer see lead actress Hayley Atwell on television. As confirmed by Entertainment Weekly, she has been picked up to star in ABC's upcoming series "Conviction."

According to the entertainment news site, Hayley will play Hayes Morrison, a lawyer and First Daughter. But, due to her cocaine possession case that could affect her mother's campaign for a senatorial seat, she is forced to strike a deal with Wayne Williams, the District Attorney for New York and work for the Conviction Integrity Unit.

Aside from Hayley, "Conviction" also stars "Eddie Cahill, Shawn Ashmore, Merrin Dungey and Emily Kinney.
