After releasing the first-generation Surface Book last year, Microsoft is now on its way to unveil the second generation of the 2-in-1 PC in June. Reports suggest that it will go head-to-head with Apple's MacBook Pro 2016 that will also release in June. Surface Book 2 is said to contain new features that will surely make tech aficionados excited. Now, here's what is currently known about Surface Book 2 Release date, specs, and price.

Several tech websites report Surface Book 2 will be released with Surface Pro 5 in June. In an International Business Times report, Microsoft might steal the limelight of upcoming MacBook Pro that is rumored to be also released in June. Microsoft's 2-in-1 PC is said to be launched with the Windows 10 Redstone update. The new software is expected to provide better user experience and new features.

On the other hand, some rumours suggest that both Surface Book 2 and Surface Book Pro 5 will be released in early 2017. Both devices will contain the new software update for Windows 10. According to TechRadar, there is a theory in early 2017 that the upcoming Surface Book will have "Kaby Lake," which is a 14-nanometer processor from Intel. This hardware is expected to offer Thunderbolt 3 support and USB 3.1 support. It is also said to feature four cores as a default configuration. Plus, it will make the device's CPU and GPU front better.

However, there are also rumours that the Surface Book 2 could feature Intel's latest processor, the Skylake. This chipset has become popular after being used by other tech companies.

The Surface Book 2's 13.5-inch display could support 4K resolution. It will enable users to stream 4K video contents on the tablet. The device is also expected to offer better graphics support and battery performance.

As for its price, several tech sites reported that it will likely cost as much as the current Surface Book which is $1499.

With all of the rumours circulating in the tech world, take note that Microsoft has not yet confirmed or denied any information.

The first generation of Surface Book was released on October 26 last year. It was praised by Forbes for its modularity because it can transform into a tablet, notebook, and even a desktop with its docking station.
